Even when someone has an indescribably difficult-to-pronounce name, the appreciation can be well worth the trouble of pronouncing it correctly. The author of the best-seller “How To Win Friends And Influence People”, Dale Carnegie stated: “a person’s name is to that person, the sweetest most important sound in any language.” Thanks to HearNames, there is an app for that.
Hear Names Service
HearNames.com is simple. Just type the name into the search box and press Search. There is also an impressive list of Random Names on the left sidebar.
Once the search finds the name you were looking for, click the Play button to hear a flash format Audio demonstration of how the name should sound. That’s all there is to it; now you can pronounce the name and possibly even discover the origin of the name.
HearNames also features a full list of names based on ethnicity. If the search isn’t finding the name you are looking for, this would be the next place to check for a name with similar spelling.
If you’ve searched high and low and can’t find the name, HearNames has a request button. Granted this won’t be immediate gratification, but if you don’t know anyone else this is a good last resort.
